work at all on this Set-up.Ĥ) If possible, occasionally would like to watch Movies in the “Eyefinity” Display Set-up i.e. I will be doing the following at 4 x in Extended Mode:-ġ) My Equity, Commodity, Forex and Binary Options Trading business where I need to manage lots of Tables, Charts, and Graphs.Ģ) Account Reconciliation work where the primary applications are MS-Excel, Word and my Accounting Software all in 2D only.ģ) There will be STRICTLY NO Video Games, Graphics, Video Editing, PhotoShop, Corel Draw, Maya, AutoCAD etc. I am doing 6 Setups of Quad Monitor and for this, I have shortlisted AMD FirePro W4100 GPU’s and Dell U2415 monitors. I know the thread is old, but my concern is whether this problem has been sorted out? Just registered after finding this thread in a search. However this won't help if I ever do want to run triples. So, fellow people who are suffering, I'm glad I've found you, however, as I don't need to run with the DP cable now I'm switching back to using the DVI-D cable.

Crashes the driver, driver resumes, main PC tells me no signal is being received, I unplug the DP cable and plug it back in to the monitor and all is well again with the obvious annoyance that all my desktop icons have reset their locations and not how I'd spent ages getting them just where I want them. I thought the problem was to do with sleeping the monitors so I disabled that and just turned them off.

I left the main monitor with the DP cable plugged in (these are meant to be superior to DVI I thought?) but EVERY time the display resumed after being turned off it would crash the Nvidia drivers (running latest non-beta and tried rolling back to the previous one). I have a MSI Nvidia 970 and had the thought to try out a triple screen setup using the old monitor I'd just replaced, which required me to purchase a displayport cable.Įverything worked ok but because the old monitor wasn't full HD I didn't like having to downgrade the others in order to play games so I removed it again. Just registered, finally found people having the same trouble as I. They should at least make it configurable. Still, this DP behavior is a deal-breaker for me. However, I can't use my 2nd monitor, which is some crappy 22" TN, so not much loss there. So I use miniDP->DVI adapter even though the monitor has DP (I'd need an adapter anyway, as the monitor is full DP). It's only for the duration of the movie, I don't want it to move all the browser, explorer, documents and other windows to the TV, it's just annoying to restore them back.

I will turn off the lights and I also want to turn off the primary monitor during the movie as it's distracting. The most common case for me is when I want to watch a movie on my HDTV connected as an extended desktop. When you power off DVI display, GPU and OS don't know about it so they don't get a chance to act on it. And when you disable the display, OS will cram everything from it to the other display. The driver then proceeds to disable the monitor, probably for power saving reasons. Click to expand. The sleep problems may be both GPU and monitor, but the "messed up desktop" is unfortunately a "feature" of drivers+OS, not a bug.Īnd monitor is the least at fault here, because I think DP spec requires it to notify GPU that it's powered off.
